Hurricane Isaias Update

The Alabama Emerald Coast Conference of The Global Methodist Church received the brunt damage from Hurricane Isaias making landfall on their shores.  There was over 200,000 people without power in the area, multiple trees down, roofs damaged, and there is substantial flooding on the coast. They will need teams to come in and help survivors with this effort. One thing they request is “Please do not self deploy!!”  
 

They are working with emergency management personnel and emergency operation centers in both Alabama and Florida. They know where people in need are located and they have set up their base camps in those areas.  
 

The disaster response team of the AEC Conference, under the direction of Ron Toole their Conference Disaster Response Coordinator of the Global Methodist Church, had deployed as of Saturday, October 10.  By October 12, the AEC disaster team was ready to receive volunteers, supplies and donations.  They currently have over 1500 cleaning buckets and over 700 tarps and rolls inbound. All they lack is volunteers to help do the work. So if you have teams that can do debris removal, typing and Muck out they can use them.

Connersville, IN has suffered significant flooding and has 250 homes in need of repair. Housing and worksites have been arranged. For Wildfires In Nahunta, Georgia:

Right now, families in Nahunta, Georgia are trying to figure out what comes next after devastating wildfires tore through South Georgia and destroyed more than 100 homes and residential structures. Many families lost everything in a matter of hours including their homes, belongings, vehicles, and sense of stability. Most did not have homeowner’s insurance, and federal aid may not be available.

But even in the middle of heartbreak, this community is showing incredible strength. Neighbors are taking in neighbors. Churches are stepping up. People are doing everything they can to help each other survive and rebuild. Our team is on the ground and committed to supporting these families over the next 12 months, not just in the immediate aftermath, but through the long road of recovery ahead.

For Flooding In Avoyelles Parish in Louisiana:

Faith Responders has partnered with the Trinity Conference of the GMC to provide relief, support and long term recovery to the survivors of Avoyelles Parish in Louisiana. Volunteers are needed to help with muck outs and removal of debris. Housing is provided at David Haas Methodist Church in Bunkie, LA and work orders are ready for teams. Supplies of box fan, dehumidifiers, mops and other items are needed.

For Earthquake Relief In Venezuela's Caribbean Coast:

On June 24, 2026, two major earthquakes occurring less than a minute apart struck Morón, located on Venezuela’s Caribbean coast west of Caracas, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5. Widespread damage has occurred and the death toll is over 1500.
