In April, we go through the highest and most profound spiritual journey: a part of Lent, Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter. So this month, instead of writing an article about prayer, I put prayers according to the spiritual journey. So we pray as we read the article. I pray that you will tangibly experience God's love and power as you pray.
Prayer for Lent: Gracious God, we, as Your church, continue the journey of the sacred season of Lent, asking You to search our hearts, reveal sins, and convict us to repent sincerely and turn to You. Lord, grant us the strength to live a new life in Your grace and open our hearts to see Your goodness and mercy in new ways. May we experience the depths of Your love in new ways by Your grace. May Your love for us find new depths - how penetrating, prominent, and extensive. May our love for You find new depths, and may our praise and worship of You be never-ending. In Jesus' name, we pray.
Prayer for Palm Sunday: Heavenly Father, the Bible reads, "People took branches of palm trees and went forth to meet Him, and cried Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" As we, Your church, wave palm branches, cause us to declare You are our King, Messiah, and Lord not only with our lips but also with a humble life to follow You all the way from Jerusalem and Golgotha. Fill our hearts with Your displayed humility, obedience, and faithfulness. May we understand the depths of Your love and live in a way that matches Your love. In Jesus' name, we pray.
Prayer for Good Friday: Jesus, today, You were mocked, struck, and crowned with thorns for us and the world. Jesus, You bore our infirmities, carried our sorrows, and gave Yourself for our sins so that we might be delivered from sin. Since my old self was crucified with You, we no longer are enslaved to sin, but You, Jesus, are the ruler of our lives. Lord Jesus, the crucified, have mercy on us!
May we live a life that is worthy of Your death on the cross with the crown of thorns. Grant us strength and faith that we may live as victors and faithful followers of You and be able to deny ourselves and carry our crosses as individuals and churches for You and Your Kingdom. Thank You, Jesus, for You took our place and laid inside our tombs of sins and death so we may have life. Thank You, Jesus, by Your stripes, we are healed physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Thank You, Jesus, the Lamb of God. By Your grace, let us be found to be faithful and loyal to You, Jesus, the suffering King. In Jesus' name, we pray.
Prayer for Easter: Let us sing: "Up from the grave, He arose; With a mighty triumph o'er His foes. He arose a Victor from the dark domain, and He lives forever with His saints to reign. He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!" Glory to Jesus! Amen and Amen!
Resurrected Jesus, as we celebrate Easter, may we always remember the pain, humility, and shame You endured for our sake, Jesus, and may we rejoice that You conquered evil when You rose from the dead. Jesus, the Messiah, help us to experience the power of Your Resurrection and the transformative power of Your love daily. Thank You, Jesus; we can walk through trouble, trial, and pain because You sustain us. Empower us, Jesus, so we may live as victors on earth until we meet You face to face. Empower us, Jesus, as individuals and Your church so we may fulfill the Great Commandment and Great Commission. Hallelujah! Jesus died and rose again. Hallelujah! Christ is Risen; evil spirits are fallen! Hallelujah! All glory, honor, and power belong to Jesus, seated on the throne of glory and reigns forever and ever. Amen, and amen!!
