Women’s Ministry in the Upper Midwest

We are grateful for all of you who support Women’s Ministry in your local churches and in our wonderful Upper Midwest Conference!

Over the next few months, we are excited to share some stories from the Conference Mission Trip to South Africa, written by Upper Midwest women. The February story comes from Pastor Melody Williams. Enjoy!

God gave me the gift of experiencing the mission trip to the Limpopo Providence of South Africa, a providence with a 60% unemployment rate. Despite the poverty that surrounded them, we met many people with deep faith and the joy of the Lord radiating from them. I witnessed God using people from the US working with the Blessman International team to help people find and grow in the joy that only God can give.

What can I say to convey the impact your partnership made in a country that far removed from what many of us have experienced in our lives? I could talk about a group of schoolgirls collectively gasping at the sight of bars of soap they would each be receiving, who then went out to share glimpses with one another of the contents of their hygiene bags.

How about Del Cremer Children’s Center? Blessman feeds over 200 kids after school every day. This is just one of the locations where the simple gift of giving an egg a day (or two for the elementary school Mountainview Farm has adopted) not only gives kids the nutrition they need, it keeps them in school, or coming to a safe after-school program.

Speaking of Mountain View farm -- women can come and learn every aspect of the farm so they can take that training home, along with all they need, to start gardens in their own communities. I have barely touched on what we saw, had the gift of participating in, and the incredible work that God is doing through the ministry.
