Praying Together as a Conference

We usually talk about prayer in the articles, but this month, let's pray together as the prayer team provides the prayers. Please share them in your church so we can all pray together. When we pray, God works!

Prayer for Our Conference: Father, You are Holy, sovereign, merciful, patient, loving, and faithful. Thank you for your word. Lord, we lift our Conference leaders. Please grant them your spiritual protection, your wisdom, discernment, encouragement, strength, humility, and grace to lead our Conference joyfully and faithfully. Please remove distractions designed to derail your plans. Please keep our hearts dependent, our eyes clearly focused, and our ears attuned to obey your promptings by the power of your Holy Spirit. Please help us to glorify you. Thank you for your gifts of grace, healing, and mercy. In the name of your Son Jesus, the Christ. Amen. (Alan Campbell, Conf. Lay Leader)

Prayer for the Pastors: Gracious Lord, we pray for our Conference pastors and for all GMC pastors, that they will grow in loving You first and in loving their sheep as Christ loved the church. May they all grow in knowing Jesus more intimately every day, and may they all grow daily in the experience of the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). Protect all of our pastors from attacks from satan and the world. Help our pastors balance family with the demands of their calling, and may they preach and teach the Word of God in the full power of the Holy Spirit, and may they experience the full joy of Jesus in their lives and in their work. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. (Rev. Mark R. Bateson)

Prayer for the Military: Almighty and Sovereign God, we come before You in times of uncertainty and tension among the nations and around the world. We lift before You the men and women who serve in our armed forces. Keep them safe as they sail troubled waters and fly through dangerous skies, be their shield and their refuge. Give wisdom to commanders, clarity in moments of danger, and courage that is tempered with restraint and righteousness. We also remember the families who wait at home. Spouses who carry heavy responsibilities, children who miss a parent, and parents who quietly pray each night for their sons and daughters. Comfort them with Your peace that passes understanding. Strengthen them with hope and surround them with supportive communities. Lord, we also pray for those who find themselves amid conflict in the Middle East. In places of missiles and drones, of uncertainty and threat, surround them with Your protection and keep watch over those who watch over us. We pray it ends soon, with triumph, and that they come home safely. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. (Rev. Mike Harder)

Prayer for Missions & Evangelism: Our Father, You have commanded us to bring the Gospel to our neighbors in our own communities, and to keep expanding until we reach the far corners of the world. Your love is so broad and limitless, inclusive to all peoples. Give us a heart to love as You love and to have concern for souls. Bless our missionaries around the world and our attempts to reach the lost near and far. May our labors and prayers for the winning of souls for Christ be fruitful and bring glory to Your name. Amen. (Carol Bacon)

A Prayer for Our Country: We come to You and praise You, God of Jehovah-Nissi, who is behind us and goes before us to give us victory in all circumstances of life. Thank You, God, for the freedom, for the guidance, and for sustaining our nation through triumphs and trials. We declare one nation under God, the Creator who was and is and is to come, and pray for the president and leaders of our nation for Your wisdom, guidance, boldness, love, protection, and loyalty to You that their leadership may influence in the areas of the family, religion, education, media, entertainment, business, and government. Please remove all obstacles that keep people from turning toward You and send a wind of revival to America. May America be found faithful to You and prevail for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen. (Rev. Dr. Christina Sung)
